Thinking about getting a CB for Rausch Creek. I wouldnt mind getting the dash mounted version, but seeing as i'll have $100 bucks in it and only use it a handful of times a year i think a handheld CB would be best for me. Funds are tight and I just want to be able to hear the conversation on the trail.

Also I have a stubby antenna so a 4' firestik in the center of my roof would be somewhat ironic. Any and all input is welcome

It was inevitable. Time to start gathering parts for the titan swap. The only thing left in the air is what front strut/shock assembly to use. I read this thread about using the Tundra coilover but I would prefer to get a pre-built assembly. Gathering this amount of metal isn't going to happen within the week, but by Jan. 1 2018 I expect to have my alignment done at my local firestone :rockin:

Any advice is appreciated, particularly on the coilovers.

our dry weight was advertised as something like 4400 lbs. 4800 sounds right to me. GVM is not curb weight, it is the gross weight of what the x is technically rated for including passengers and gear.

So before I titan swap, I want to have the following done:

1. Rear bumper w/ tire carrier
2. Body lift
3. Skid plates
4. Front bumper

Due to funding I can't do all of these at once. I'm looking at 6 months between each.

Would this be the best order to do these? For instance, sliders need to be after the body lift because I want to see everything underneath easier, but rear bumper needs to be first because I don't really want to drill/grind my bumper.

. . . Would this be the best order to do these. . . ?
1. Skidplates/sliders
2. Body Lift
3. Bumpers

If I had to spread these modifications over an extended period, I would look for a set of used sliders at a good price and do those and skidplates right away, then save enough money to do the rest at the same time (selling the first set of sliders in favor of a new set made for a body lifted Xterra). My rationale is that undercarriage/rocker protection is necessary for an Xterra used offroad while the other items are "nice to have."

After being green with envy at everyone buy shrockworks parts this weekend, I decided to put in my order for some sliders at Hardcore Offroad. They are right up the road from my camp and you can't beat their prices.

The sliders come standard with dimple plating on top that says "HARDCORE" but I asked them to change this to say "XTERRA" and they were happy to do so. I feel bad for not promoting their company, I just prefer to avoid having words and stickers on my vehicles, especially the ones that make me look like a bro.

Best part: Cory says I should be able to pick it up next weekend. Talk about turnaround time. If everything goes smoothly with this buy I will certainly be getting my front bumper from them down the road.

In other news, I'm waiting for my front recovery points to get done at my friend's fab shop.

Congrats! I felt a little odd about the Hardcore logo as well on my bumper haha. I was worried people wouldn't realize that it was an fabrication company and instead think I just wanted to be "Hardcore". Good call on the logo change.

They are still my favorite fab company simply because of their turnaround time, customer service, and price, even if their parts may have a few minor flaws (my drivers' side shackle is crooked in my front bumper, some people say the rear-bumper bracing is not strong enough, etc.).

Any word on the group sell of them as well? We's be an itching. :nerd:

Hood rod mod came in. I can't wait to see how erect the adventuremobile is with these on it!

No fair you got yours before me :crying: Looks great. I think the red is better than the black. +5HP for sure.

@IsaacHunter

Mine will certainly be bedlined. I was thinking of sending the others out in bare steel, just because I haven't used this stuff before (rustoleum roll-on bedliner) and I'm not sure how itll adhere. Perhaps I will bedline them, but I will not be selling the D-rings or hardware because all i'd be doing is going out to ace hardware and buying it.

#46 ·
Use some Rustoleum Self-Etching Primer first or use Por15 Metal Prep (My preferred since it's an anti-rust Zinc coating) then Bedline it. It will work better. As for the roll-on kind I'm not sure as I've only used the spray-on and can variants. Usually roll on stuff is harder to keep an even appearance but depends on what you are using too.

Body lift is going in on Saturday 6/10/17. My buddy is coming out to help, but more help is always welcome. Shooting for 10 hours start to finish.

I have my front bumper brackets and 2" lift pucks ready. Bolts are supposed to arrive on Wednesday from metricspecialties. I also am going to grab that angle grinder from Harbor Freight to help deal with the rear bumper.
@Jyoung992 you are welcome to come out if you're interested. Along with any other members in the area of course.

Just curious, why are you doing a body lift?
