Got my snorkel installed two days ago! :) Here's a pic I took just a few minutes ago:

Quick and painless temporary solution to snow when parked. Would rather have a more permanent solution... hmm. Maybe make a snorkel head that has a set of shutters you can manually open/close to help keep the rain/snow out while parked?

And those of ya that did the rain gutter mesh and zip-tied it to your intake - how well have you noticed it keeping out things like rain/snow while parked? Will probably set this up myself later this week.

I also use the one screw (screwed through the clamp, snorkel head and snorkel body) and the provided clamp. No problems. I make sure to watch for branches haha
A truly fine idea !! :)

The screw AND watching for branches :):)

Air Flow tells you to do this in the instructions fyi.

Did anyone else have a pain with finagling all the screws into the fender holes? I'm sure it didn't help that the template I received was all ****ed up. Now I'm going to have to drill larger holes in the fender and back them with bigger washers.

Ok so somebody had asked me if the fan on my X was belt driven, I dont know. He said there is no point to have a snorkel then because if your fan is submerged the water pressure on belt may cause it to break. So my ? is, are our fans belt or electrical, I have a 2011 S.

they are mechanical. The guy was probably talking about the potential for the fan to "suck" the radiator into it (the fan) since you can't turn it off

snorkels are not just for water, they are for dust too...

I just ordered a mushroom top to help with the wet, clumping snow here:

http://www.amazon.com/Mushroom-Removable-Replacement-Snorkel-Driving/dp/B009EV76OE/ref=pd_sim_sbs_e_2

I will be combining that with a pre-filter on my AEM air filter.

That one looks like the ARB head. As far as I know that one is only 3". You could always make an adapter.

Here is a similar one on ebay:
