subrscribed.. so who sells the cheapest snorkel?

Like they said in a few posts above. There is only one company that makes a snorkel for the 05-11 Xterra. Airflow.

My, Addendums to the Airflow instructions.

Step 16 A-pillar
No Play when insert is installed.
original screws from Airflow backed out during long highway trip(winds and vibes) to Moab09. Had to put bigger screws in to A-pillar mount bracket. These 2 screws need to go in Damn tight and have no play that may allow them to back out under high vibes.

Also put 1/4" to 3/8" black closed cell foam between snork and A-pillar bracket to absorb vibrations when snork is on highway in strong winds.
use sticky back foam from hardware store.

Also put rubber grommet or rubber washers between single screw on A-pillar to snork as a vibration absorbing material.(may need longer screw than supplied)

step 20 and step 22
hose clamps on interior of fender.
you can seal the hose to flange area before putting the hose clamps on and tightening. sealing material of your choice. (or not) it will contribute to water tightness.

The fender vibration plane and the A-pillar vibration planes are different. so a vibration absorbing material is going to help. And there should be some play (dampened by rubber or foam ) to allow for these 2 vibration planes.

Just my .02

For those that live in areas with Snow, how do you keep the Snow out of your intake? Is there a different top I can get or will I just have to dry it out every week?

These pictures are after it Snowed for a few days, including wet Snow. We also had a Blizzard. Winds 30kts gusting to 60kts if not a little more, the Wind Chill was -8* F. So I guess this is about as Extreme Winter Weather this Snorkel will go though.

The Filter was dry and the water just barely soaked up a Blue Shop Towel. I also did that Airbox Mod, (didn't notice any difference FYI). There is a little Factory hole on the bottom left corner of the Airbox that should have helped with draining.

no problem. It does fine when it rains, but I think the snow tends to follow the air flow into the intake rather than stick to the back and melt down the slits on the snork.

in reference to the whole water through the snork thing. with my snork on (fender installed), after about a year, i noticed significant evidence that a pool of water about 1/2" deep would gather in the bottom of my volant. i then drilled a small hole at the lowest point in the box to let it drain. since then i've removed my fender altogether (soon to be reinstalled w/o snork) and there's alot less water in the box. anyone in the market for a snorkel?

Okay I just got mine in a group buy a little while ago, I'm kind of irritated reading this thread because I'm in Connecticut. I was saving a date for the snorkel install. However, should I even bother to honestly put it on? I really wanted to throw it on but I didn't realize this is that much of an issue. I wish somebody would have told me that living in the Northeast doesn't coincide with having a snork.

On the manufacturer's directions it says to turn the snork head around in bad conditions, then I come on here and it says it will damage your engine. Sounds like no body knows what's good with these things. I'll sell the thing quicker than I can take it out of the package. Not real happy right now as I feel like I wasted $400 in that group buy.

I mean even rain causes issues? I don't want water in my air box whatsoever. Idc if you could drill a hole to drain. Water in the air box is never good, I'd rather not have it. So should I keep the thing or sell it?
