BL installed!
It's not a huge difference, but it returned it more to its stock height with all of the bumpers.

got some pro-4x skids installed over the weekend thanks to BulldogX, his Hefty's came in. SES light came on this morning. Noticed last night leaving work the X was stuttering pretty bad on mild acceleration out of the parking lot. Seems to be misfiring at startup. Goes away after it warms up. Same thing this morning and the light popped on. I'm thinking coil packs are finally giving way after 140k miles.

man, I really don't know. Did you send a message to boondox yet?

Still chasing ghosts. CEL popped back up again on the way into work. I'll get it scanned again but I am almost positive it will be another running lean p0171. So far I have:

Replaced the Bank 1 sensor 1
Cleaned MAF Sensor
Cleaned Throttle Body
Cleaned Intake filter and Intake box/Tubes
Re-torqued Exhaust bolts
New Graphite exhaust gaskets on the B-Pipes

I really only have the PCV valve to replace before it starts getting to the expensive bits. So if anyone has any suggestions I am all ears. This all occurred after the engine mount replacement. Maybe jacking up the engine so high to get the one puck out has cause some issues? I havent checked the electrical connections on the coil packs, so that might be something to try but I would think I would get the code to return immediately if it was an electrical/fuel injector issue. I was able to get almost two weeks out this time around before it returned. Maybe the cleaning of the intake just delayed return of the code.

I've been thinking about replacing all of the hoses with Offroad Gorillas silicone set, and doing the PCV valve. But maybe I should put that towards injectors or coil packs? Thoughts?

replaced the rear transfer case seal and boot this weekend. Thing was leaking really bad. Bank 1 sensor 1 still throwing a code for running lean. The header bolts were a little lose, but the light still came back. I am hoping this doesnt turn into a gremlin we have to chase. The sensor has been replaced, and it only came on after we took off that passenger side setup to the catback system. Sensor 2 isnt throwing a code, so I am thinking the walker replacement cat is deteriorating that sensor 1 is in. It's got around 40k on it give or take.

It's got new plugs, new sensor, new gasket on the header. I am going to clean out the air filter and re-oil it, clean out the tube, the MAF sensor, and the throttle body this weekend and see if it helps.

how'd the motor mount install go?

#180 ·
PITA. The Doug Thorleys got in the way of the motor mount on the passenger side, headers, cat and B-Pipes had to come out. Driver side was a pain to figure out how high you actually have to jack up the engine to get it off. Chris did the positioning/install of the mounts since he had done them before and knew what was the best way to do it. Started at 10am, got the mounts, diff breather all done by 4pm.

Going to swap out the exhaust this weekend. Dynomax is a pos, the muffler already has a leak at the weld. I might have a whole new system done in the summer. For now I'm going to swap out a Thrush Hush muffler, hopefully it's quieter than the Dynomax. There really isnt a lot of room under there to add in extra resonators.

awesome to hear! is that the guy that lives near you that you've been telling me about?

Wow what is going on with that Metallic green... I've never seen a color match like that haha. I kinda like it.

It's nice when you don't have to worry about downtime on your truck. Gives you a lot more freedom. Are you gonna do anything "special" to it now that it is dedicated weekend warrior?

#163 ·
Yeah, he color matched everything, although he is waiting on a Hefty Bumper to be delivered. Still sticking with a Titan Swap, probably with 4.56's instead of 4.10's like originally planned since it wont be seeing the highway time it does now. Then a few years down the road get a V8 in it.

Worked with a local guy Chris and finally got the Hefty rear tire carrier rattle problem permanently fixed. Shout out to him. Tire carrier doesnt budge not, previously you could move the tire about an inch towards the rear window. Installing the PRG motor mounts hopefully this weekend. Also. We've decided to keep the X, the wife has never had her "Own" car that shes desired. So we decided she gets her Mini-Cooper that she's always wanted, I am going to drive her Corolla as my daily driver. And the X will turn into a permanent play car. Mods are back on!

Ha! Yes that was us, we where visiting a buddy in Seattle and went to Pikes also. Thats too funny man. Small world in deed. Well, to keep it interesting, I was born and lived in STL till I was about 15. Move to AZ from Jefferson City, my wife is from Hermann if you've ever heard of that small dump :)

So I finally got around to replacing the wheel spacers yesterday since I broke off one of the studs on a rear 2" spacer. As luck would have it, taking off the spacer also broke an actual wheel stud on the bearing. Joy. Thankfully I was pleasantly surprised how easy they are to remove and replace on our vehicles, new one went in without any fuss. I put a little anti-seize on each stud this time around to prevent it in the future on all 4 corners.

Sadly I must report, the X is going into maintenance mode. I might put a resonator on this summer because the wife hates the exhaust noise but that's it. We are putting money aside to get a truck next spring, which we have settled on a Frontier. We originally wanted to get a nicely equipped fullsize truck, but it would leave little room for putting money into the house and saving for starting our family.

We have new and used Pro-4x frontiers in our area from 25k-33k with all the bells and whistles, so its a good middle ground for our needs. Plus I already have the wrench experience. It'll get some modding but I dont think 35's will ever grace that vehicle.
