A guy on the expedition portal posted his purchase of 7 brand new Jerrycans with lock pin. Something the Swiss ones lack. July 13th

I had to cut off the old end of plastic and plumb 1" inch hose onto the end, then adapter nipple to 3/4" and finish with 3/4" to 1/2" inch adapter.
No it is not pretty.

But it does not leak, unlike the OEM which has plastic with a lifespan.

I think the one for water will be fine and even if it does leak a few drops of water no problem.
leaking gas .... Problem.

UPDATE

Stainless Steel 20 Liter (INOX) NATO Jerry Can

$199.00

It took us about ten years to work up the cojones to sell this stainless steel jerry can. They just always seemed a bit too pricey… But then we’ve been selling hundreds of stainless buckets from the Swiss Army, for years, without complaint. Let’s face it stainless steel stuff is expensive and hard to work. These stainless jerry cans are all made to precisely the same NATO standards as the others. All stamped, plasma welded, three handle, bayonet filler, and stone gorgeous. Food Quality..! Wine, acids, solvents, and weather resistant, what else could one want? Well, here you go. We finally made it. These are truly objects of great beauty.

yep British pacific

PIC LINKS.....

Just got my Spouts.. Went & Tried my Surplus Fuel cans.. D#*#@ beep beep.. Does not fit them.. They have a air vent.. The spigot has same dia air vent... Thus does not fit. ugh.. Might have to take die cutter wheel to it..(filled with water first). to adjust. that sure bites.. Now will either have make it fit, Or just use the siphon on the older cans. shesh...

Okay, I just ordered 2 shiny new NATO Jerrycans. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone else considering it to jump on it ASAP, because I'm guessing these guys will receive an order to cease and desist sales of these pretty quickly. So order up while you can, recognize a rare opportunity when they come along. ;)

I also ordered 2 semi-flex spouts from britishpacific.com. Thanks Chris! :eek:ccasion5:

And lastly I also ordered a water jerrycan, a filler spout, and a super siphon from expedition exchange.

My GF is out clothes shopping with 2 of her friends right now. I guess when she gets home I will have no room comment on how much money she spent on cloths today!:geek:

They shouldnt as NATO has been using/switching o Sceptor plastic cans for close to a decade.

Maybe one of our fine military people on this thread can give us some more insight.

Edit: I took a second look at them and with the high gloss paint that is on the, I would have to bet they are refurb cans. I own 5 of the same cans that are all olive DRAB.

Those appear to be olive GLOSS...Just my 2 cents...i think the NATO can are better than the new Sceptor cans.

The issue is the same reason why you can't find any Scepter cans sold in the states ... with many states adopting the new CARB regulations, manufacturers of the 'good' fuel cans (like these, the similar Wedco cans, and Scepter ... to name a few) desided it was more trouble than it's worth to sell them in the US.

Virtually all fuel containers you're going to find for sale in the states are going to be 'CARB Compliant', which translates to funky, hard to use and oftentimes leaky nozzles ... now as I understand it, cans that qualify as 'used' do not have quite the same restrictions; and it's just the brand spankin' new cans that are so restricted.

You guys post fast ... but here's a bit more, as I understand it: CARB is a governing body in California, that decides on regulations for the state which govern emissions ... anything from vehicle modifications (intake and exhaust) to storage of volitiles (like gas) falls - at least to some extent - under their purview.

Recently (I thought it was 1-1-2009, but Zach says '10 ... :dontknow:) many other states opted to adopt the CARB standards and regulations in an effort to meet upcoming federal standards ... since the CARB ones are more stringent, and were already established, it saved them the effort.

Pardon my ignorance here, but the main difference between these and the CARB compliant cans is, these pour better? Is that right? My question is, for those who are shopping for cans (and I am), can you tell me why these are better than the CARB cans? Thanks!

The CARB cans leak like a sieve, pour like sh!t and most of the time 75% of whatever is in the can ends up on the ground. The NATO cans, dont leak, have an awesome spout you can buy, one was already posted, which ensures less spills.

The last few I used of those Carb set ups.. had Fuel spilled on my Dress slacks & shoes. I gave that can away.

The NATO one are Metal, takes hell of a beating on the trail. Or around the house, They are solid!!. Can't say that to Plastic.. that might rupture OR rub through.

I love mine!!.. If I did not buy 4 new tires would be buying More Nato can's.
