There's a lot of really great information in this thread. I think my biggest limitations are in the fact that it's my daily driver. But I am fairly short so the need for a platform is more out of luxury than necessity. I did make some window screens a few weeks ago and I tested them out last weekend during a quick overnight to the desert. The screens are much bigger than necessary but I kinda wanted them to be somewhat universal. I wound up using small magnets and felt. They held up well for a first try in the wind.

My next thought is to make something similar for the rear hatch. Only more along the lines of drapes that you can seperate when you need to get out of the truck.

I'm not much of a snow camper so I haven't had much need for the warmer gear, but eventually I'll develop more in that aspect too. Right now I'm using a Klymit Static V insulated pad and it does just fine for me as a side/stomach sleeper. Plus it packs down small enough for me to use while motorcycle camping.

Either way the bug has definitely bit me. This vehicle is freaking awesome! I'm pretty focused on experimenting with some improvements for the upcoming 5k mile road trip. So I'll be following (and maybe updating) this thread.

I finished my window screens tonight! Love them, so excited to sleep with the windows open next week, hear the crickets, and not the mosquitos! Thank you all for the ideas!

I used magnetic roll tape- which forms a decent seal all the way around the window, glued on mosquito netting, then glued on a top layer of magnetic tape- this made them reversible (and a little better looking imo)

One screen I used hot glue and ‘set’ it in the sun, and the other screen I used the 3M weatherstrip adhesive from the hatch screen mod thread. We’ll see which one holds up better!

What’s the ideas on how to make similar screens for the front windows around those side mirrors? Thinking I’ll just go right over the folded mirrors.

Damn fine job, those look waaaaaay nicer than mine. How well does the magnetic tape hold? I was thinking about using that on my updated version but I wasn't sure if it would be strong enough to hold up to the gusty winds I run into out in the desert.

the ones i make and sell to people i use neodymium magnets. You won't have any issues with wind with those.
