Maybe I'm wrong but I thought I saw vid on hi-lift website explained the different and I was under impression only the Xtreme can use the winch kit. I'm on my phone so I'll try to find the vid later on my PC.

Edit:

Here is the video explaining the differences between all their lifts:

Here is the comparison chart:

Now I remember after watching the vid. Only the X-treme model will include the "Winch-clamp-spread attachment" which allow you to use with the "Hi-Lift Off-Road Kit (ORK)". You can't even buy this part separately if you want to, Hi-Lift made it that way so you have to buy their X-Treme model. But technically if you can get your hand on that winch clamp somehow then you can use it on their other models.

I hope you're wrong, I got the regular one, and picked up the winch kit. The winch kit comes with a bracket to attach to the base of the jack (should work with any) a bracket to attach to the lifting part of the jack (again, should fit on either) and a shackle to attach a chain or tree save to the top of the jack. Only difference I can see, is the Xtreme has a chain grabber built into the top bracket, and a spreader/clamp attachment on the top. I'm going to have to try it all out when I get a chance, best find out now that my "kit" don't work than find out in the woods somewhere :tard:

The last 10 secs of that video say "be sure to watch the video clips covering the uses of both the standard hi-lift jack and extreme hi-lift jack for spreading, winching and clamping applications"

My understanding is that the extreme can do more as a spreader but is rated the same as the standard for winching/clamping.

The chart above also shows all three types as öcasional" use for lifting/winching/clamping. I'm guessing if you use it everyday get the extreme, if you need it sometimes when wheeling, any will work.

gwos25 - where did you get your winch kit from? I need one too.

Hey thanks for pointing that out, I searched and found a winching tutorial video from Hi-Lift. In this video it shown they attempt to winch with the black/red model at one point in the video but when they doing the actual winching they switched to the X-treme Jack for some reason. In any case I stand corrected, I guess the winch-clamp attachment is just an additional hardware for clamping and spreading. I guess I misunderstood or I was misinformed from somewhere :)
In that case it would be better to have the 60" jack for winching, get more winching distance before having to move the grab hook.

FYI- Not sure where gwos25 got the ORK from but last year I inquired with Princess Auto about the ORK, they said they do not keep this product in stock however here is their response:
"We can order hi-lift off road kit, delivery would be 3-4 weeks and it is priced at $89.99. Please let me know if you would like to place the order. Best Regards, Jolene".
