I did a search for this, and could't find an answer, forgive me if this has already been covered.
2005 2nd gen with 6 speed manual. Started hearing a slight whirling noise when shifting, it stopped when I was in gear or in neutral but I could hear it when I pressed the clutch.
One day later, I pressed in the clutch, it stayed down and I could't shift.. Restarted the struck, wrested it into gear, then suddenly it was working fine. Just before I got home, same problem - now clutch pedal goes all the way to the floor, and feels like there is no hydraulic pressure to it.

Had the clutch replaced 30,000 miles ago. I'm not a total noob - I've replaced brakes and wheel bearings on this vehicle. From what I've read, it sounds like its the clutch master cylinder, but I CAN'T FIND IT! Found the slave cylinder easily enough, but I want to check the fluid in the master.

Suggestions? Glasses?

Yes, it is mounted directly on the firewall and the slave is external on these (thankfully) and on the passenger side near the front of transmission...tge reservoir is shared with brakes, which IMO is silly, but is what it is....since the slave is not internal, the fluid will stay cleaner than internal unit, where microscopic dust gets by the seal (least on the T56's). Easy to put an remote reservoir (wilwood makes some ss do others), just would have to capnoff the exist inlet from the brake unit that currently goes to clutch master.
