hi,

Does anyone that have the airlift system on the Rear of their X know this distance? or what airbag is required for a lifted X.

I plan on doing a 2 inch lift.
I think i plan on lifting with PRG AAL or shackle..not sure yet...
and spacer up front.

I called Airlift tech support at 1-800-248-0892 ext 2.
The kit for our X's is p/n 59562 with replacement bag that comes with the kit p/n 50259.

The bags:

50259 - 5.1 diameter bag
Max height 7.75 full of air.
Design Height of:
4.5 - 7 inches when X is at rest - stock Xterra height, comes with kit p/n 59562

50203 - 5.1 diameter bag
max height 10.25 full of air.
Design height of:
6.5 - 8.5 inches - tech support i talked too thinks this one will work on a 2 inch lifted X...

ANY of you guys have these on your lifted X?? if so what p/n airbag are you using? if not for those of you with PRG AAL can you measure at this mounting location and then ill subtract the upper and lower bracket heights to try and figure it out...

Thanks,
Jason

Try giving Greg at PRG a call. He mentioned to me a while back that he has airbags on his truck for towing.
i called him and he said its no big deal...just to get the stock bags that come spec'd out for the Xterra.... the lift wont affect it so much that its not out of the bags range...

SWEET!

I've had Airlift bags installed about two months now and they are invaluable for towing heavy loads.

I installed these myself and would say the advice of ordering the stock bag from Airlift for a lifted X is not a good idea. To work properly on my 1.5-2" lift I had to have spacers made because the total height of each bag and both brackets together is too short to cover the distance between the leaf spring and the frame. Therefore, under load the rear is supported somewhat but normal ride height IMO won't be achieved.

I bought the Airlifts because they were $100 cheaper than Firestone's but after having to make spacers and buying new bolts the cost is about the same.

I have no experience with the Firestone's but if I had to do it again they seem the better choice- they make spacers in various sizes and have a no drill installation whereas the Airlifts use three tap screws per side. The Airlifts do work well and no leaks. PSI is always consistent. Over 40 PSI the ride does get stiff and bumpy.

I installed the air lift on my X about 4 months ago. Never really used them passed 10 psi other than keeping the bump stops from hitting while going over a speed bump. Last weaken I loaded the X with trail gear and camping stuff for 4 people. I know i was way over 500bls when i was sitting on the axle. I air them up to 60 psi and was back to ride height!! I could not be any happier with the performance. Hit some trail up in the mountains before getting the the camp site and no problems!!! way better than any helper spring out there!!!

are you running a lift along with the airbags? I too am trying to figure out the lift vs. stock distance dilemma. Wonder why AirLift doesn't just make a spacer for the RideControl 59562?
