Hey fellas.. if I wanted to lift my driver front tire to see where the suspension maxes out.. can I stick a bottle jack under the solid part of the LCA? Like a mini-ramp test.
No! You have to crawl up on a rock just like everyone else. ;)

Went to the local dealership for a part, and a salesperson wanted to know if I'd be interested in trading in mine for something newer. I said "Sure." They got all excited, and asked what I'd be interested in, and you should have seen their face when I said "A 2022 Xterra or Bronco, all paid off, and modded the way my Xterra is." They said my Xterra wasn't worth that much and I countered... "You're the one that wants it, so it must be." 😁

If I take a VK56 out of a titan, and stuff it into a lighter vehicle like an X, will I get better MPGs than the titan?
Well..... Yes, and here is why. The Titan won't have an engine so it can't move no matter how much gas you put into it. So it will get 0 (zero) MPG. The X will have an engine and thus burn the gas that you put into it and even if it only goes 1 mile and burns 1 gallon of gas that is better than what the Titan can do. ;) 😁

Now on the serious side, the X may start off as a lighter vehicle but what will the weight difference be once the engine from the Titan is installed?

IDN88 said in another thread, "The current sensor on the negative cable feeds back to the BCM (or maybe the ECM, I can't remember?) how much current is in use and modulates the smart charging system. "

Which got me to thinking. IF adding something like a winch or inverter or even a second battery, and not only are you going to the positive post but also running a heavy ground wire maybe that wire needs to not go to the battery post (where it is in front of the sensor) but rather to a connecting point AFTER the sensor? That way any extra load on the battery is truly sensed via the negative cable and sensor.

Thoughts?

My stupid question - I’m replacing my suspension soon, front and back, and will be doing wheel bearings, ball joints, bushings, and possibly tie rods as well while I’m in there.

what do I do with the old parts? Throw them in the recycle bin, sell them? Mileage unknown on the parts but the vehicle has 136k on it, and I got it used at 100k.
IMHO... recycle. Even if they were P4 parts they have too many miles on them to worth it to sell.

Thanks! I was hoping to just buy a lid but I guess it’s not possible.

Have you hit any auto salvage yards yet?

How much can you realistically tow from a custom rear bumper welded on hitch (i.e. hefty, shrock, hardcore, etc.)? The heaviest I'll be towing is my 21' open bow boat at right around 5000 lbs wet with trailer and all.
I don't think any of the aftermarket bumper companies have said what they rate their hitches for. However, I'd think it would at least be comparable to a stock hitch.

Is a stock front bumper worth selling? its in good shape, but I have no room for it anymore. Might just toss it if no one wants to pay for shipping.
IMHO... worth a shot selling, buyer pays shipping.

This is more of what I was looking for! These switches are sick thanks brother
Notice that they state that you might have to trim the opening to fit. OTRATTW pop right in. Just a heads up.

Huh...had not realized what OTRATTW was an acronym for "Over the river and thru the woods" learn sumtin new ev'day
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

 DUH!! So obvious.

So what does everyone do for spare / replacement bolts? I like to have extra bolts on hand before I start a job. There are so many metric sizes and combinations I never know what they are until there out. I often just order them from Courtesy, but that gets expensive (I think the bolts just for the U-Joints was like 40 bucks or more).

Any suggestions on what to buy where just to have around? I have seen the metric assortments on ebay, but I think those are mostly low grade Chinese stuff. They don't even tell you the pitch, so I assume there all whatever the most standard metric course is for that size, but who know>?.
Fastenall, Ace Hardware, and there are other suppliers of nuts and bolts that I've seen around, but can't recall their names.

What bolts should I blast in preparation for my ome lift?
Since you aren't familiar with all the bolt terms, spray any bolt or nut that is on or near or connected to the suspension. Some may never need touching but at least you will have made sure you got the ones that do need it.

I have the original diff breather vent at the end of my extended breather line in my taillight. The original breather is a 2-way breather correct? It doesn’t just relieve pressure right?
IF.... the breather vent is working properly it will let pressure equalize.

Hey facelift folks! Do the ‘09 -> have that nifty mat in the dash cubby up top like the old boys?

My spanky new 2010 lacks said accouterment.
Nope. I tried chasing one down and gave up. I decided that it was way easier to get tool drawer liner and make one.
And I haven't done that either as I modified a spare dash tray for a GPS mount.

There is nothing wrong with using 4 lot for hill descent. It will keep you off the brakes, gives you better control over the situation.

Has anyone replaced a OEM rad due to age - not smod concerns. My fronty is a 2011 - no smod concerns, so now that its 8 years old I am pro-actively replacing a bunch of things - bearings, u-joint, hoses, etc. Should the rad be on this list? I am torn - its an easy job and not much dollars, but I need to draw a line somewhere?
I think it is an item listed in the manual for replacing around 110k mi, if I remember correctly
I see that the 2011 service guide says to replace the radiator CAP every 30,000 miles but nothing about replacing the radiator itself.

What are these spare parts for that come with the OEM Nissan hitch?
Is the washer for smaller balls; less than 2"?
Not sure what the smaller pin and collar are for.
The collar is an insert if the shank of the ball is smaller than the hole in the hitch. The washer is for putting under the hitch when a smaller shank ball is used, it keeps the insert from falling out.
No idea what the smaller pin is for.
