In a dual battery set-up the secondary battery is often isolated via a relay. This allows the driver to manually select when the secondary battery is switched into the system and when it is disconnected.
1. Is there every a situation in which you would want to disconnect the primary?
Thanks.

For example: is it possible that the primary battery failed and is now shorting out the system?
2. Is there any other situation that you can think off where you would want that primary battery disconnected and only running on the secondary? If so, would that functionality be worth about $300?
Thanks.
