I actually like the big cupholders for my Nalgene bottles, which I use more than anything else in the X.

 

I think the X was specifically built around the Nalgene bottles because I use mine in there too (my X only came with one) and it fits perfectly

 

I had no idea what these things were until I saw them in skfaller's new rig. So when everyone was talking about how cool it was to have cup holders I just sat here confused thinking "wait, do some people not have cup holders?"

But I am with you, without the inserts you can fit huge bottles in there, like 1 liters of MD and what not.

 

Your X only came with one cupholder on the center console? Or only one cupholder insert?

I didn't know the X came with the inserts... that's what you get when you're the 4th owner of a used '05

Glad people are scooping these up. I'm a fan of rocking both, but a Gatorade or a large Hydroflask compromises things.

I lost one this way, friend had no idea he took it with him when he removed his water bottle from my cup holders. Lost in Gdub somewhere. I ordered two more to have a spare just in case.

I've thought about putting some heavy duty velcro in between the bottom of the cup holders and the insert in order to keep it in place when needed and still be able to remove it when necessary.
