Today, as the snow was dumping on the northern Wasatch Front, I decided to take off to the mountains. There is a very rocky, icy, snow covered, and beautiful 15 mile trail near me that I love and thought it’d be a great place to test these new rugged treks. I have sliced and gouged Pathfinder All-Terrains on this same trail.
Highway drive there: Quiet, no drone, cruised up to the trailhead at 75-80mph without issue.
Snow on pavement: Handling was predictable and good.
Snow off-road: Air’d down to 20psi they handled the sharp and tire gouging Northern Utah rocks without issues. There is a steep section of rocks that resemble a staircase on this trail with a serious drop off on the one side. I was concerned at first with the underlying ice on these rocks but once I started up in 4Lo I didn’t experience any slippage and continued up without issue! There was some sliding under breaking but no more than is to be expected with the conditions. Even when I tried to get them to spin, they would quickly clear out, dig through the snow then grab the dirt underneath and claw forward.
My impressions thus far have been awesome with these tires and I’d recommend them to anyone who’d listen. Really great performance, price, and quality from what I can tell so far.
