So today I brought my full MK II 3' lift kit to suspension shop I know .
I did some work there in the past..
OLD MAN EMU kit was installed there in 2014.. These guys do big suspension jobs on huge trucks, dump trucks, rigs you name it.. and of course lifts on pick up trucks etc.. they know their stuff and have been in business for many years.. legit guys.
But since I don't know the business,. I had a ball park figure in my head on the labour for this kit...comparing it to the kit they installed in 2014 where buddy charged me $380.00..
I was expecting about $600 to $800 dollars. CAD
I realize this MK II 3" kit is not quite the same animal..
They quoted me about 10 hours labour, comes to approx $1400 plus tax. CAD. (which is roughly about $1000 USD)..
Here's a link to the kit for those interested
The kit involves:
Nisstec MKII 3" kit
Front Coil over
Rear Shocks
Dakar leaf pack
NEW extended brake lines front and back
additional changes:
New LCA
Sway Bar front end links
Swapping out at least one SPC ball joint for sure.
(one is ruined maybe best to replace both since they come in pairs not sure on that)
and finally and alignment to tie it all in..
One mechanic I know turned down the job.. he said it was too much for him.. it would tie up his one bay garage business and its too much work for him to do alone.. Nice guy I respect that take though.. He's done some good work for me in the past .. He installed my SPC UCA.. but I guess this job is too time consuming.
My other buddy mechanic said the price quote was very good, it is indeed a big job and they'll do it right..
I was curious what you guys think on that quote..
I know a lot of you guys here do a lot of work like this on their own and have tools and time for it.. but I'm not in that ball park at all..
