I also don't think it's really a safety issue. At least in my case, the fuel gauge failed in the safe direction. It tells me I am empty when in fact still have 7 or 8 gallons in the tank.

It also seems to only be effecting the fuel gauge. I have not seen anyone complain that their fuel pump ever failed.

Oh, and they would augh at a class action suit as it would go no where.

It seems people under the 3yr/36K factory warranty, or the 100K extended warranty have not had problems getting it covered under warranty. There have been some folks who have been over the 3yr/36K warranty and the dealer replaced it under good faith. And there have been users over the 3yr/36K miles and he dealer would not replace it for free.

I think there is a TSB for it, but I have not heard anything about a recall.
