I've got no reason to try and stand up for him and I'm sure he can do it his self. But really? You guys are gonna crack on him for being 18 and motivated? I'm sure he posted this on opinions on how to go about doin it. Not for ass hole comments.

People use their rigs for different stuff buddy. No need to give someone a hard time for not chopping their rig. How much you go offroad doesn't really put you higher up in some hierarchy. No need to get all fired up when someone suggest an alternate solution.

I mean dude, you don't start to build a 4 wheeler and worry about resale. I bought it 7 grand with no.tranny and put it in, it was a long hard process but it runs. Don't give me your discouragement when I'm out in the woods when you're in your driveway
Tell us about that hardcore New Jersey wheeling that you do. I bet you blast through that mud and impress your friends.

Actually I would say Espo started it buy saying his truck isn't modified so why bother. I would be pissed as well.
I didn't say it wasn't modified, I said it wasn't modified that much. Basically his parts would mostly all bolt onto a Frontier as easily as they bolt onto an Xterra, and he basically wants to turn his Xterra into a 4 door truck with a bed. More power to him for being motivated and wheeling and all that stuff. Sometimes people have other opinions, and that is what forums are for, hearing opinions and ideas. Nissan already makes the truck he wants. And his mods will bolt right to it.

Go ahead, chop up your X. What do I care?

I just want something different in the Xterra world. My truck was permanently mine since the day I.brought it home from the yard. I just hate the idea of pretty boy rigs. Its a jersey thing, all the people from here wheel their X's and use them for the very reason behind the vehicle. People lift their stuff and are afraid to scratch their winch bumper. That's why its called a rig, and its your own. Offroading is a one team environment.

But ATL man don't go their, follow me through wharton and you'd be crying from your nerves.

I bought my ride, and rig it to my liking

Dude just drop it I have no intentions to argue. you just talk sh** cause you're bored. delete this thread I'm sorry I offended the conservatives, at nxm don't try and be my bud

Settle down champ. Chopping an Xterra is a pretty sweet mod, and when done right is a thing of beauty. Take a look at a couple of the trucks that have been done and put research into it. Being young and motivated is great, I built a couple sweet rigs before I turned 21, and you will deal with naysayers saying you are too young to know or what not, but buck-up and thicken your skin, it's all joking around. Speaking of which, I came from Minnesota, not necessarily known for wheeling however, there was a considerable amount, and I'm sure NJ is similar, but I doubt much in Jersey matches this pucker factor...

Sounds like a helluva project, man. Good luck with it.

Have you seen Bestop's Trektops for JK-Us? Sort of sounds like what you're interested in, and I imagine the dimensions aren't too far off the back of the Xterra. You'd need to add some kind of rollbar back there, but at this point why not? :D

Chop it!

Keep in mind all the plastic inside comes off so you have to seal it back up somehow... I used sheet metal but there's probably several ways to do it... Keep in mind the rear seat belts, wiring, speakers, it'll also be louder in the cabin

Check out my chop thread on clubx

Don't let them give you a hard time.... I was 22 when I chopped my X.. I made everything on my truck and it was an awesome learning experience. Chop it cause its never been done, chop it cause you'll learn a lot, either way it's a good thing. On the other hand that **** is permanent! Just keep that in mind as your cutting sheet metal...

Nice, thanks a lot I'm getting pumped. Only thing I'm trying to figure out is where the wire housing so I don't chop into them and cause a short. It's not going to be easy but I'm not worried.

I don't think there's many or any wires runnin the roof liner. Most is side panels and near floor. So it should be easy. There's some wires comin up the rear pillar to the hatch for the 3rd brake light and whipper. Other than that bust out the rear windows and cut away. Use a cut off wheel on the sheet metal. It's less aggressive than a sawzaw.
