So,

First day back to the office after the Christmas break and the other guy
here with an 05 Xterra had a good story.

He was driving home Christmas Eve out over the highway, the roads were
clean so even though he didn't have his winter tires on he was doing
about 90.

He came up to a long stretch of road and saw a odd looking snow drift
ahead so he took his foot off the gas and slowed to about 80. He went
through the drift, and that was all fine, but there was black ice under the
drift.

The cross wind coming from the right that caused the drift pushed his X
right into the middle of the divided highway, taking out a few metal poles
along the way.

He was about to hop up on the other side into on-coming traffic but was
able to keep it in the ditch. So here he is, still driving down the middle of
the divided highway, in about 2 feet of snow - of course he slowed down
pretty quickly.

Once stopped he slapped it in 4LO and crawled up out of the ditch.
Inspected the front and under the X and all looked well, except for the
missing poles behind him :)

Just goes to show that these things can take a beating.

I was rear-ended by an F-250 at about 10 mph. The front end of the truck was pretty smashed in, however, the only damage to the X was to the rear bumper, which was pushed in less than an inch on one side and some scratches in the paint. I almost thought I was seeing things when I first got out to look at the damage; it is hardly noticable.
