Hey Folks,
I found a Pioneer "Premier" HU on the web at a much better price than "Slutchfield". I bought the Pioneer XM tuner from them though as well as the wiring kit for the "06 xterra.

I originally got this stuff for my "04 diesel Jetta that I traded for my X.
Well, the HU bolted in perfectly like it was made for the X, but I still needed to mount the xm tuner box.

What I did...

If you pull the panel underneath the steering wheel, just above your feet, you have to peel back some door trim on the driver's side to find the other screw on the left side. You will find an angle steel cross bar held in with two 10mm bolts. Take this out drill two holes in the top and mount the xm tuner on it w/some foam underneath, you can run the wires right up through to the radio behind the dash. I stuck the antenna in the front of the dash between the dfroster vents, reception kind of sucks there so I will eventually have to relocate it to the roof. But the install is clean and fuctions perfectly.

I think the Pioneer xm box is much better quality than the Terk units, and it plugs directly into a Pioneer HU, which fits in an xterra like it was made for it.

Now , can someone explain how to post pictures? If you folks are interested...

when you type for a post there are some buttoms at the top one of them say Img. you click on Img and a [ Img ] shows up, right after that paste the url where the picture is located. then leaving no spaces in between click on the Img buttom again, this time a [ \Img ] will show up. click on preview before you post just to make sure it works

hope this helps

HU Prices

I use the "dogpile" search engine, or I guess google would work as well,

Type in the model number of the item you are looking for and then find the cheapest vendor.

I just bought the new 6X9 kappas for less than a cnote w/an amazon credit card at amazon, the same speakers at crutchfield were $249.00

Sorry, I don't remember where I got the HU, but it was a better model at a cheaper price than crutchfield, as they don't carry Pioneer's "Premier" line. You can't beat crutchfield for the wiring kits and tech support though.
