-- :clown: Yo pilgrims--Well I got the tent ($212) bucks.

--It arrived yesterday along with email pre/post notifications

--It's big 10x10x9ft high, well made waterproof entrances and 4 access doors.

--One door is BIG, thats the door that goes over the hatch--multiple securing attachments, also clips for the X overhead rack--

--It looks just the pictures in the Nissan brochures--

--The package included everything plus instructions--(total), So Courtesyparts.com did OK

--I haven't used it in the boondocks yet, but I will soon-I set it up on my patio deck (BIG)

--Finally for the prelim assesment---Very well made /well sewn good nylon and mesh and all joints are overlapped for water shedding ease--- assembly took me about 40 minutes, but it's really a two person job--After doing it once , two could put it up in 10/15 minutes--

--More after I take it up the mountain--

I am very curious to know how "sealed" the tent is around the Xterra. I just see that as a place for the wee-beasties and creepy-crawlies to get in. I REALLY want one of those tents but not at the expense of getting midnight visitors.

Looking forward to your thoughts!

-- :clown: --Yo Lyrex, I don't blame you, but the way the sealing sock is designed--

--It allows you to completely close the X hatch WHILE STILL ENCLOSED BY THE TENT "SOCK"

--Now this is perfect for my wife and I, because we sleep in the X anyway-

--if you have children, I can see why you have doubts, but give me a week or so and Ill geve the straight dope--

is there anyway we could get some pics posted?
-Now if this was a 4wheeling post without pictures, I can understand frustration, but the pictures of this tent are EXACTLY the same as you can see in the '06 Brochure from the Nissan dealer!!!

--You got me thinking this morn. (dangerous) so I went out and Rechecked out the tent--

-the "sock" that seals the back of the X, also is set up so that ,when you attach it to the back of the X-The BOTTOM lip will completely seal-to the X and the tent--

--The bottom lip is SEWN into the tent bottom, so after installation the "LIP" is flush to the X bumper bottom edge--2 ft above ground-

--there's no way for creepycrawlers to get in--

---Maybe a GRIZZLY, not notbugs--

Now this is where the brochure does no justice. Jimbo get out there and get a close up photo of the connection so we can all learn from your experience!

If you can't post because you have no site to host sign up at photobucket.com (thanks MC). If you can't post because you have no digital camera then step into the year 2006 dude and get one! :geek:

-- :clown: I don't know the exact measurements of the "sock" except you know it has to be at least as long as the X Hatch--

How deep is the tub of the tent, and are it's seams taped?
--I'm going to try to set it up today and take progressive pictures--My only problem with this tent is that I have the swing away tire carrier and I'm sure they didn't design this tent with that in mind---Oh well, we'll see

--As I said earlier-My wife and I sleep inside the X anyway so Ill show pictures both ways--ie: Hatch open and Hatch closed-

--Even so-It's a big well made (stand alone) tent with Full zipper'd doors with screens and each zipper run isn't taped, but has a sewn "flap" that covers it for water shed--Although, still a little expensive if used only as stand alone--

--It also has an awning that covers the TOP of the tent and makes it totally waterproof--Ill show that in place--

--:clown: The depth of the Hatch "sock" is longer on top (of course) and is about 6 1/2 feet to allow the Hatch to open and close with ease--As I said earlier, the zipper'd door runs (all) are not taped they have a sewn flap to allow water shed--

:clown: --Ok, I was able to set the tent up Sunday and attach it to the X-

--It can be adjusted enough to allow for the Swing away tire carrier and still open and close the Hatch-WHILE FULLY ENCLOSED--

--when packed for a trip it's about the size of a sleeping bag and weighs about 30 lbs---

--I took pictures and will send them to BG to post for me (thanx BG)--

--Any questions in the interim--shoot away--

pics are rediculously easy to post. just go to imageshack.us, and where it prompts you, browse your computer and select the picture, then it'll take you to a page of different links to use to make it easier. scroll to the bottom of that page, highlight and copy the DIRECT link to the picture. then come back over to thenewx.org, and post in a thread, first click the "img" button, then ctrl-v to paste in the link, then click img button again. then you're done.
