Two locks is the way to go. They don't want to have to look obvious carrying a set of bolt cutters. They steal because they are too lazy to work. My idea is to make it too hard, and make it so that it is worthless to them if they do get it. And, as hard as it may seem to do, never buy anything on a deal that you even suspect was ever stolen. If they bought it, they more than likely have a receipt and directions that go with it and all the accessories. Man do I hate to hear that someone got ripped off!
By the way, a Bulldog talking alarm from wal mart $50 is unbeatable as far as protection of stuff on the outside. You even touch my X and it goes off with the warning "You are too close to the vehicle, please step away!!"
After that, they figure people are looking. I have it installed inside driver side, red LED it in speaker grille front dash driver side and horn is out under the area the air box is. Can't cut any wires without setting it off. Has a backup battery but that's a whole new box of worms.
In the Marines, they say leaving something unlocked is the birth of a thief.
Lock your stuff, you don't know where you will be with your X and criminals shop where the good stuff is likely to be. The good neighborhoods!
