I've noticed a greyish/white film on the windshield from running the AC I assume. It appears after using the AC for a couple of days and wipes off no problem.

The Altima does the same thing.

Is this just a Nissan thing? I've never seen this in any of my other vehicles.

Same thing here. Its like I can't clean the windshield often enough. Seriously it needs it like once a week!

It is due to that newer safer refrigerant.

R12 was the old. R134 is the new. But R134 has been out for years. Is there something newer than that?

if you notice it right after the AC, its from that, but typically the film inside windows is from the chemicals released from the interior plastics. Weird but true.

its the plastics. Ive read a detailed paper from audi that tests new plastics to avoid this very issue. Its the chemicals released, and the UV rays from the sun along with the heat speed up this process, so in the summers its worse.

Yes, it's it the plastics, and why they went through so much trouble with the in cabin microfilter, so that shit don't get out into the atmosphere and kill any small children. I also read the article about that "New Car Smell" being dangerous. MC

Yeah I gotta clean my windows in both my truck and the wife's car. I was driving the wife's car yesterday and it was pretty bad when the sun hit it. I couldn't see the car in front of me so I'll be hitting that up tonight or tomorrow.

My Camaro does the same thing. Its the plastics. My dash is like the frickin size of a picnic table, so after just a couple of days in the sun, it comes back.
