What are frame stiffeners and do I need them?

Going to put a trailer hitch on the X. Have been told that I need to install frame stiffeners or when I hook a trailer to the hitch the frame will bend.

I am not planning on pulling a trailer carrying a backhoe or a Bobcat with the X but I would like to be able to pull a trailer load of firewood, etc.

So what are frame stiffeners and will I need them?

Well you don't say what X you have, but if you are here i guess you have a 05+ no need for them, Just bolt a hitch on and go! Look in the shrockworks rear bumper install for a tip on how to hold it while you bolt it. It's sloted. MC
