After reading through the many posts about the AC lift with the AAL option I am still not clear if there is always a vibration or just somtimes?

If I am understanding everyone right, there is sometimes a vibration and if there is it can be cured via angled shims?

Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks!

I personally think that you are more likely going to have vibration problems with AAL than without. The shims help and prevent any vibrations.

What causes the vibration is the rear pinion angle (where the rear driveshaft meets the rear diff. If the pinion is too horizontal then the u-joint binds and causes a vibration. If you tip the pinion up a bit the u-joint no longer binds and you have no more vibration.

I think I've read on here that if you run shackles with the AAL you won't have to use shims. Is this correct?

Not true, atleast with the OR model. I tried that with my AC AAL and it didn't work.

i agree with muzikman. shackles do mess with your angles.
