VDC/SLIP Light on dash on

2758 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  usmc xterra
Hi all,

Does anyone know why the VDC/SLIP light would come on by itself during normal driving? It happened this morning and the lights won't shut off. The Service Engine Soon light is on as well. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Sorry, I actually did a search and I see I wasn't the only one. Has anyone found a definitive solution?
This seems to be a common problem with no solution. If you do a quick search you'll see quite a few people having this problem currently. I think I read a while back that the problem ended up being a bad wire harness, but not positive on that.

Thanks Muzik. I just want to make sure the drivetrain does fall off or something while I'm driving it :blackeye: .

Do you know where you may have seen this, as my dealership is qlueless.
Ok, so I have a little update for this issue.

Yesterday I took my X in for a diagnostic and the tech said he couldn't find any problems. He reset the steering sensor, ran another diag and still no errors. Basically he said that he sees this all the time and they're starting to believe that it's related to the wiring harness for the VDC system.

Man, when I bought the X I saw all them electric switches and I said Naaa even though I liked that SE and OR. I went with the S because I didnt want the electronics. You guys are making me feel good. I'll mention this in a new thread but cool as shit is the Mod on page 73 of Octobers 4 wheeler magazine. I thought about doing this but was afraid it would jack with the computer. But I am going to do the ABS over-ride Mod soon.
Wires I can deal with that don't involve the computer.
