2011P4X, 109k miles. Both rear axle seals have been leaking. Got first one out and found 2 grooves on the seal surface of the axle shaft. They're too deep to clean up so I ordered 2 Speedi Sleeves, SKF 99187.

Each Speedi Sleeve has a removable flange used for installation. There's always the chance the new sleeve could be damaged while removing the installation flange and in this case it looks like it would be ok to just leave that flange on.

I'd appreciate it if someone could verify that's ok, or let me know if that's not a good idea. TIA.

Can't say for sure, I ran into the same thing and decided to remove them just in case there was a clearance issue. I used Timken KWK99187 sleeves and had no issues, if I remember right I cut a notch and peeled them off with a pair of side cutters. No leaks or issues post repair.

I would remove the flange . Because the thing is scored already , I would be worried it might break later on and damage the seal
