I have been in contact with UpTop Overland with concerns about their roof rack. I haven't installed mine, but saw some issues online so I reached out to them. They redesigned the front mounting brackets and should be shipping them out this week (March 15, 2023).

Per the email I received: "I'll also add that if we redesign mounting parts, etc...we will reach out via email and provide them to anyone that wants them free of charge for existing rack owners."

Customer service and responses from them have been top notch. Hopefully they continue to develop and produce products for our platform.

Looking forward to getting the new brackets. It's really too bad they didn't design it this way in the first place, altho the new mounting design on the front load bar still might give me issues with all the lights I've got mounted on mine. Have to wait and see.

I also asked about the rear mounts. Someone on Reddit posted about a crack in their roof around one of the rear mounts https://www.reddit.com/r/XTerra/comments/10r24te
This was the response from UpTop:
"The rest of the mounts stayed the same however we will be including spacers to add between the roof of the truck and the bottom side of the foot to even things out and make them distribute weight across the contact areas better than they did before."

Hopefully these changes will improve their roof rack.

It kinda dumbfounds me that it would take this long to rectify these issues and how they didn't notice them during the design/test fitting process. I'm just hoping I don't need to drop the headliner again to deal with spinning rivnuts for the new front brackets.

I'm thinking of replacing all of the rivnuts when I do my install. I also plan on getting the roof Line-X.

Ya I did replace all but 2 rivnuts when I installed mine over xmas holidays. And since I had the headliner out, slapped a bunch of Kilmat on the roof, was quite the project.
I think UpTop should provide at least 4 rivnut replacements since the new design requires using 4 other factory holes. I didn't NEED to replace all of them but figured might as well since I had to replace a few anyways, and there was starting to be some corrosion in others. Just peace of mind. Just a PITA that the rack wasn't designed this way in the first place.

Thanks for the pictures.

Did you go with the OEM size for the rivet nuts? I think they're M6x1.00??? And how did you go about getting them out?

All the rivet nuts I replaced came with my UpTop rack.
