I am at 160000 and my 06 needs it. Probably going to do it my self in the next couple of months.
Dang, pretty close to nothing left. I'll be having mine repaired Monday by the local stealership as long as I don't find a cheaper quote.06 with 143K
it was waaay past time to replace them.
guides was completely gone and chain was wearing into the 'piston' that presses the plastic guide against the chain.
:thumbup:Thanks for the help, Old Navy.
yea, the oil drain plug magnet caught a lot of the metal, but where did the plastic bits go? would prefer to think they are in the oil pan rather than jammed in a port somewhere, or picked up by filter & removed via oil changes.Updated OP with a table for keeping track of all the victims.

repairs suck, but hey at 11 years old things are bound to go bad.My 2005 Xterra is at the mechanic right now for the timing chain replacement, along with a new water pump, PCV valve and what ever is in need to be replaced.
The sound from the timig chain was really loud, like a turbo engine.
Hope this repairs reflect in a silent an efficient truck.
What amazes me is that I have to order the gaskets from amazon, because in this country of mine, gaskets for the second generation Xterra are imposible to find! Except from the stealership.
The truck has 82'000 km on it. Or so it says in the odometer.repairs suck, but hey at 11 years old things are bound to go bad.
