I will be in Fort Myers the week of Thanksgiving and the week after and would like to explore Big Cypress National Preserve. Thinking I would like to hit some of the trails on the Turner River Unit found here http://www.nps.gov/bicy/planyourvisit/upload/20130802-TRU-Designated-Trails.pdf

Because November is on the tail end of the rainy season my concern is mud, lots of mud...not into driving through deep mud holes.

Thoughts?

You'll be fine. Novemeber is already starting to dry up.

There are bypasses for everything.

However I believe you need an annual pass, as Big Cypress does not do day passes.

So I will be checking out the Bear Island Unit Of Big Cypress National Preserver on Nov 29. My plan is to arrive at their office at 9:00am. I will need to get a permit which takes about 45 minutes.

Office Address
===========
33100 Tamiami Trail East, Ochopee, Florida 34141

FYI: The Bear Island Unit is the only unit available to street legal 4x4s.

PM me if you would like to meet up. Hope others can make it!
