Towed home 1300 lbs of tractor in a rental U-Haul open trailer this past weekend, and the clutch has started to give up on me. Quite bad slippage, and I need to get it dealt with before my wife gets stuck somewhere. Also have a whine developing which suggests that I may need timing chain work.
Local dealer (Quirk, Auburn) has some bad reviews, and Worcester dealer (Herb Chambers) gave me scheduling problems and double work required for a Dodge I previously owned. As such, I'm looking for any recommendations for central MA shops that will be receptive to aftermarket clutch options (I *don't* want to have to do it again) and who might not screw me as badly as a dealer in terms of cost.
Willing to drive a bit, but I need to get this done ASAP.
