I am planning to replace my pads and rotors this weekend. I was reviewing the Nissan Service Manual and it says that the two bolts that secure the caliper to the wheel should be replaced with new bolts after each disassembly (see attached diagram).

I was wondering, for those that have replaced their rotors before, did you also replace the bolts or did you re-use the bolt? If you replaced the bolt, can you tell me the part numbers of the bolts that need to be replaced?

I reused those bolts, and torqued them per the FSM.
A tip for the fronts is to jack up the entire front end (both sides on jackstands) so you can turn the wheels left or right for better breaker bar/torque wrench access as needed.

If they are pitted then replace them. Mine weren't bad, I touched them up with a bit of crocus cloth, and reused them.
This. If there corroded your caliper will hang up and wear the brakes prematurely. If you live somewhere they use salt I would replace them.

I've never changed them but I live where they don't salt the roads so I've had it a lot easier than everyone up north when it comes to corrosion.

I'd recommend you replace the rubber bushing that goes on the sliding pin and make sure to clean those out and apply new grease though. There's one bushing per side and it's a cheap part to buy.

Thanks to everyone for the responses so far. I do want to clarify something, though. The bolts I'm asking about are actually the bolts that attach the main caliper to the wheel assembly. This question comes up because in order to access and remove the rotor, the entire caliper has to be unbolted from the wheel assembly. According to the Nissan FSM, these bolts should be replaced and not re-used. The bolts I'm asking about are different than the sliding pins on the caliper that allow the pads to slide back and forth.

OH!!!..... THOSE bolts. :laugh:

I reused mine. I didn't see any reason to replace them.

The only technical reason (I can think of) for Nissan to say they have to be replaced is if they were 'torqued to yield' at the factory.

Simple explanation: Torque-to-yield means they were stretched to the point that the bolt material doesn't behave elastically anymore and therefore the bolt will loosen under subsequent high loads. Its the subsequent re-installations of the same bolts that might push it over the edge so they say 'don't re-use them'.
