I've never rotated the tires on my Xterra by myself, but I'm going to attempt it today, and I'm new to the Tire Pressure system on these.

Assuming I already know the basics on rotating tires, what do I need to know about the Tire Pressure system, while rotating my tires?

Jack it up, RF goes to the Rear and the RR goes to the front. That's it, do other side. Sensors will still work. Leave the spare where it is. 98 FPT. Re check after like 50 miles, that is important. MC

But I don't need to disconnect sensors or anything like that?

No it's a radio signal, cordless, kinda look around and you will see how it works, Use a jack stand and blocks if you stick your head in there. Kinda check your brakes for mud also. Sometimes I lube the sliders on the brakes but unless you go off road a lot you should be good.

It is a very simple procedure that will not only save you a load of money but also time. I can do a rotation in less time than it takes me to drive to a shop. Plus, I get a look at things.

I did like you said and did RF to RR and vice versa, and the same thing on the other side.

So the tire pressure sensors should still be accurate right?

Yes.

If you ever have problems with the sensors, I find that if you like add about 5 - 7 lbs to the tire, let it sit overnight and air down to the recommended pressure, all goes good. The dag gone things can be finicky especially in winter when the temperature changes a lot between night and day week to week. The system seems to require more attention as the temperature varies and we know why. MC

I have a couple questions to add to this:

1. Does the spare have a pressure sensor and, if so, how do I know?
2. If I decide to rotate in the spare (and is this a good idea?) how do I go about doing that?

The spare does not have a sensor in it. If you rotate in the spare, the pressure light will be on.
