So I was looking online for some ideas on possibly fabbing up a roof rack that is low profile and does not add height to the X and does not involve welding.

My first though was using thread pipe.

Then I came across this. Now I am no expert and I am not sure how strong PVC is but come on did he have to build it this tall :cheese: :blackeye:

Needless to say PVC seems scary and this guys design seems even worse.

I think the straps are ovekill. I would just use some duct tape to hold it on.

Like I tell my students, "you aren't stupid, but what you just did was stupid."

On second thought, maybe that guy is stupid.

Or maybe it's us.... I mean, here we are, waiting for a decent roof rack, and all we needed was some Lego or Lincoln Logs. Maybe fabbing really is that easy!

Lego's damn, I never thought of that. I am building one tonight and loading it down with a few hundred pounds of weight :geek:
