IF you replaced cat converter(s), which brand did you buy?

Did mine in late 2017 so it was the old version. I had no complaints with the Eastern - it fit well and has lasted a while. Given the changes you found in the Easterns maybe I'm better off to try the Walkers anyway.
Well I just replaced both sides with Walkers ordered from Amazon. I didn't have any problems with fitment at all. The whole thing went pretty smoothly really. I soaked everything for a week before the project and was able to get 5/6 heat shield bolts out. Driver side swap was fine without loosening any other exhaust but the passenger side required loosening the joint behind the rear cat and dropping the hanger just in front of the muffler. So far so good - no codes & no leaks.

One other thing I'll point out - I bought Nissan exhaust gaskets for both sides of each cat and think that was money well spent. The crush style metal gaskets work better than the paper/fiber ones. It cost me $45 at the dealership for all 4 gaskets. Just my $.02......

Not a bad price for the gaskets. I got all flat and metal o ring gaskets from Nissan and paid $75. Called 5 dealerships and they all quoted the same price.

Been spinning my wheels trying to figure out what to do about my bad cat problem and just found that NissanPartsDeal.com has OEM cats on sale.

Driver side for $602 (Normally $822)
Passenger side for $550 (Normally $744)

Be warned though they do charge a $250/each core charge, which sucks for me because my original cats are hollowed out and likely don't apply for the core charge.

Good option for those of us in Denver that RockAuto wont ship too, also for those that prefer OEM to the Walker's/Eastern's

CA readers be warned these are not CA legal. Although I just ordered one...nobody notices around here anyways.

Avoid the Easterns. I replaced both of my front converters with Easterns from Rock Auto in June 2021; my 'check engine' light has been on for while (thought it was a dusty charcoal canister), but the dealer just told me one of my front cats is plugged (it lasted 10 months or less). My fuel economy has been dropping a bit, so... In any case, I am going back to OE cats and changing both front Eastern cats, as I am roadtripping and do not want problems. They are still under warranty at Rock Auto, but then I have to pay a core charge, wait weeks for a new set to arrive, and will probably have my warranty claim (replacements only, no refund) rejected because they'll claim the engine is running rich, or overheated, or... Just hold your nose and buy OE.

I have had Eastern for some time, and the fit sucks but I haven't had issues of them being plugged, nor has anyone here indicated an issue before. So I won't use Eastern due to fit - but whatever killed your Eastern will no doubt kill your new OEM one as well.

The dealer says there is nothing at all wrong other than one plugged cat. No other codes, no problems, etc. So I'll toss them out and make a note never to buy anything but OE catalytic converters from now on.

MartinX, I'd sell the warranty replacements, but then the dealer will charge me a core charge, Rock Auto will make up an excuse about how they were plugged with lunar dust and are therefore not covered by the warranty, and I'd be out the shipping to return them. Right now, I just want the #/[email protected] car running the way it was.

Well I live in the Bay area so the dealer quoted $2500, there are a bunch of other things that were replaced for the $1100 in labor. Also the bolts were seized...but if the other one goes out I may drive to Bakersfield or something to get it cheaper, but the CARB part is $800-900 no matter where you buy it.

In case anyone was wondering, I replaced mine with the Phoenixexaust cats from ebay and you get what you pay for. The welds on the pipes work but that look like a 3rd grader welded them. My primary cat came without the O2 sensor being threaded, see pic. They did replace it for free but it did take about a week to get it. Lastly the angles of the flanges did not line up with the stock pipes. I had to use multiple gaskets to seal the pipe. So if you're looking for a cheap cat system that will clear codes, you will get what you pay for with this kit
