Removing the dash

Well, after ECXC I have a very annoying rattle in my dash somewhere on the passengers side.

Is there an easy way to remove the very top piece of the dash or do I need to remove a bunch of other pieces?

I spent 4 hours in the X today and I was about to drive into a conrete divider.

That's probably a good way to do it but it's a little hard to put together after...

PM me your email address - I may have some drawing for you...
Thanks. I have the SM. So I will just look at that. I just don't have it with me righ tnow.
I looked into taking off the dash as well due to a rattle, but it requires the removal of nearly all the pannels in front of it first. You can get the center piece, gloves boxes, side pieces, a pillar pannels, etc off to gain access, but to access the area right below the windshield requires a lot more work...
Ugh. I am going to remove the center stack first and see if I can find it. Then I will go to the glove box. After that to the dealer.
Anybody know how to take the panel where the 4x4 control knob is? Do I need to take the center stereo/HVAC and side panels off?

IIRC, it's held in on the sides by two screws, one on the driver's side (this one is easily accessible, no need to remove the driver's side panel under the steering wheel) and another on the passenger side, which you can only get to by removing the glove box and the panel under it. There are a few screws for the panel under the glove box, don't forget the one near the door, under the gray part that comes down near the weather stripping.

As far as the HVAC controls, I don't remember if you have to remove those...I'm not positive but I think there might have been a couple of screws there too. In any case, you don't need to completely remove it, you could probably just lift it up to get to the screws without taking it completely off.
rattles are covered under warranty, let the dealer screw with it!
