Sometimes when I go to open my rear driver's side door I pull the handle and nothing. It takes about three tries and then you really have to pull hard to get it to unlatch. Anyone else experience this?

This happened once to me but on the passenger side rear door. My daughter said she couldn't open the door so I figured it was locked. Same thing though. Had to pull the handle out really far to open it. Since then it has not happened again.

Mine was delivered from the factory with this problem. I did not notice it right away until it started getting worse. Then it progressed to the point where you could not open the door (same one - rear, driver's side) from the inside at all. And no, the safety lock was not engaged.

Took a month to get the part in due to backorder issues. Then the part that came in was broken! So then my door would not open at all. Took another week for a new replacement part to come in. All of that happened at around 3000 miles. The problem returned again about 3000 miles later. Sticking when opening from the outside and would not open from the inside. Fortunately the dealership was able to get the part immediately and fix it again.

I never saw that in the manual about replacing the mechanism with every oil change. I guess I should have read the manual a little more closely.

Only thing I run into is drunk friends who can't find the handle in the first place.
After I first bought the Xterra my wife asked that age old question about rear passenger door. "Where's the door handle for the back door?" But on the other hand, I've had it happen a couple of times. I just assumed it was that I didn't hit the unlocked pushbutton correctly. It hasn't happen recently.

Well it just happened to me again! Right rear passenger door, you have to really pull the handle out far to get it to catch the latch and open. The big problem is that you can't pull the interior handle out far enough to open the door at all. I'm going to take it into the dealer this morning. Have had the truck for just over a month. I hope this is not a sign of things to come!

I have this problem as well. Gone to the dealer thrice, and it still doesn't work. Inside doesn't work at all, and you per near have to break the outside to get it open.

Wish the dealer could get his head and ass wired together so that they would stop seeing me!

:clown: --Hey guys, I think you know that with my experience I am really full of it!! Well maybe not---

--Anyway, I've had the same problem, while camping the first time at 8ooo ft in the Sierras.

--Now maybe you've already tried this, but My problem went away--

--By cycling that LITTLE child safety latch lever (in each rear door), right at the rear just over the latch---

--The door works fine-give it a try--

My 2006 S (with less than 1000 miles) does this on the right rear door. My sister-in-law was riding in the back and she said when I used the power locks, the one on this door was not cycling fully. When the door is unlocked, you have to really pull on the outside latch to open the door. When I take it in for its 3000 mile service this will be mentioned. I am going outside now to check out the child latch mentioned in the previous post.

I am wondering if Nissan does not have a design issue that needs to be addressed.
