i have an '06 X with a trailer hitch. i was wondering if i could put a rear bumper guard on with the trailer hitch or is it one of those either one or the other??

If that is what you are talking about, it will work fine.

I bought my truck without a hitch and installed them both at the same time (they use some of the same bolts)

I have been fortunate enough to not find out how strong the guard really is, but don't expect it save you in an accident or anything. It's kinda like the front push guards. In certain circumstances it's great, and it looks kinda cool (personal opinion) but it's definitely not a substitute for a Shrock or similar
