These pics are a bit old now, but in anticipation of our upcoming trip I thought I would post some shots from last year's trip up Rattlesnake Canyon. There were only three 2nd Gen X's on this trip (Dan's, Ed's and mine), at least mine and Ed's were pretty new, and quite stock. First, here is Xtoolbox's old post from XOC.

Ah what a great time climbing all the way :)

Some of my favorites pixs from Wolfman, Aperion, Frank, Fierce, and Me.

Here are a few more photos, starting in the dusty desert.

Working our way up the canyon.

Testing the depth of an old vertical mineshaft.

Higher elevation, but not yet to the pines.

After the group split.

I'm pretty sure I'm doing both days. I think the girlfriend can make this one too.

This trip is the 24th-25th, correct?

There's a ton of snow in Big Bear so it should be really cool coming up into it.

is it stock friendly???
That's been a running joke around SCCX since the run last year. But it really showed what a capable truck a stock 2nd Gen X is. It was easily the most popular run last year. We had 16 trucks.

Keeping in mind that trails can change, I did this one last year (the Rattlesnake Canyon part) in a brand new very stock 2005 S. If you have step rails on you may want to take them off for the run. Same goes for mudflaps. And, if its anything like last year, you don't want to be too attached to your shiny paint job.

The trail from Hwy 247 up to 2N02 ranges from Easy to Moderate ratings (Wells book), but those who had been there before remarked that there seemed to be more rocks in the trail than they remembered. I picked up a few dings on the frame rails and muffler.

Further up we took an "alternate" side trip along 2N16Y, which has a stretch classed as Difficult by Wells, and got through with no real damage. There was one sharp off-camber turn where a spotter was needed, as you could only see sky over the hood.

The SCCX website is back up, you can find other pictures and write-up on last year's trip there. www.sccxterra.com

Hope to see you there.
