I would turn off my VDC when I feel that I want to control the amount of slip my tires are experiencing. Perhaps in mud or on ice. VDC was developed by the manufacturer to help keep from rolling over the truck.

Edit: I just crawled under my X and my passenger side bottom shock bolt was gone and the shock was just hanging there. Could be part of the issue. I just re-torqued that bolt two weeks ago because it was loose.
Hope the dealer carries that.
