In case anyone's interested, I contacted SiriusXM to ask if the factory radio in my 2013 Pro-4X is compatible with their "A la carte package" where you choose 50 channels and pay $7.99 per month (currently their lowest cost subscription package). The short answer is "no". Their long answer was:

Thank you for contacting SiriusXM regarding your interest on our A La Carte Package.

Our records indicate that your receiver with Radio ID ****** is connected to your 2013 Nissan Xterra. Thus, it is not capable of receiving A La Carte Package.

This is a little disappointing because one of the anti-trust conditions that allowed Sirius and XM to merge (in 2007) was that they provide an a-la-carte subscription to customers. It looks like they're doing that ... just not for all their customers.
