Well here are some side by side pics so you can compare yourself.

-Surprisingly the AC shackles and the PRG shackles provide the same amount of lift (when the PRG's are fully extended).
-The AC shackles use thicker steel for the side plates
-The PRG shackles have rounded ends (better design in my opinion)
-The PRG shackles look prettier (does that make a difference :blackeye: )

Well I have to say that since the prices are so much different, if money was an issue for me I would just go ahead and get the AC shackles over the PRG ones. But obviously i dont care about money :blackeye:

Measured from eye to eye on both of them (starting at the 1" mark)
PRG

AC

They both came out to 7-1/2"

shacks

Hey sex, you left out one BIG comparison! Look at the face plates on the PRG's, then look at the welded square tubes (in the middle) of the AC shackles.

For those who do not weld or comprehend welding-the PRG shackles are far more structurally solid!!! not to mention the height adjustment feature is pretty rad.

P.S. get yer nasty arse foot outa the picture. jk--- :cheers:

Every product I've seen from AC looks like it was made in grade 7 shop class.

Very interesting to see, thanks for posting the pics. After my lift, the arse end of my X sits a bit higher than I would like. My options have been to do the longer Radflos in front like you did or do something with my shackles. The PRG's look like the solution.

I have the AC Shackles. They are working great. If you don't like the square cut ends you can take a grinder to them if you like.

The cross support doesn't matter all that much. The amount of stress on that point is not very great. Heck, a lot of shackles don't even have cross supports (for good reason).

The PRG might look pretty, but do they function any better? My guess....no.

BTW, the square ends on the AC shackle saves the wrap on the leaf from getting banged up when coming off a ledge, though the shackle gets beat up pretty good.

What!? Are you suggesting that this is some sort of evolution in shackle design pioneered by AC? This is what happens to the shackle and the wrap;

I have never seen another shackle with squared off ends like that. It's called "cheap." If you're really abusing your rig, the back half of those leaf springs are going to act like sliders, of sorts. It's not like you're going to land perfectly on the wrap end when you're coming off of ledges. As you're moving forward the rock(s) are going to scrape along the leaf spring until they hit the wrap end. Instead of glancing off the natural curve of that wrap end, they're going to get hung up even more on the squared off ends of those shackle bars.

If you go with PRG, SLR, Daystar, or even Calmini, it's going to look something like this;

If you define the "function" of a shackle as simply connecting the leaf spring to a pivot point on the frame, then "no," the PRG shackle doesn't function any better than the AC shackle.

But, the devil is in the details, as they say. The adjustability? Maybe not a feature that you and I would take advantage of, but several people on here can and will. The powdercoating (which helps make it more "pretty" as you say)? Better rust resistance. No disrespect intended to the guy at AC who gets paid to rattle-can those things.

It's a shackle not gold...that's all I am saying.

As for the design. I have seen MANY MANY jeep shackles that were squared off.

And I can see the Rubicon did a number on your shackle and wrap.

I'm not fighting. I threw out my 2 cents and now I'm done.
