Post your Stereo Setups.

30817 Views 43 Replies 29 Participants Last post by  p.staff
This is a sticky refrence for everyone to post thier stereo upgrades be it a new head unit, or a full system. This will help New X owners get ideas on how they can upgrade thier stereo. I know there is already one like this but with this thread it will stay a sticky and I would like to see clear pics and a rough estimate of what you spent along with the compnents you used. Also if anyone has a question please ask the person in a pm. I would like to keep this as clean as possible. And if you have an update just update your post instead of making a new one.

I started with, JVC this Alpine that, Ummm ahhh who gives a crap all parts were left over from other installs and upgrades, I made the sub box and bought a harness and some like 1 wire. Rest in stock.

I have On board air under the seat and use under seat area, so, no amps under the seats! http://thenewx.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=58&highlight=air+anytime

My head unit a JVC with Aux in, plays anything!

Location of Sub close up. 1000 watts, Amp under floor.

Amps

Retains cargo area:

Room for a Bike!

This is the $2 cover Mod in How To's to deter theft. http://thenewx.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=1804

This is the cover stored before the CF added, Black thing on dash.

This little cover is same as the one that covers it, slides in same slot but just cuts the glare fom the sun on face. Barely see it, look hard.

Don't think about getting my subs THAT easy!

Here is the way it looks parked, they don't need to know what is under there, no matter how cheap it is.

Oh! You like the dash? Maybe not but you can get any type, wood maybe? Linky ho to. http://thenewx.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=1439&highlight=dash

My first attempt at images included in a post. Here goes.... :drunken:

Pioneer DEH-P7800MP...

Close Up...

Open for CD (motorized)...

Ipod interface adapter wired through the glove box... (The bomb looking thing is just my sunglass case haha)

This is a great head unit. Definite change in sound quality. Full color (65,000 color, so no blur) Display. Cost me about $400-$450 including installation. HU was $350 on Circuitcity.com, and the Ipod adapter (CDIB100II) was $45. The Ipod is controlled through the deck and Pioneer did a great job of making the controls on the deck pretty close to those on the ipod. If you plan on going with a single DIN head unit, and have an ipod, i would definitly recommend this. I do however have the base (non RF) sound package, so i will most likely upgrade the speakers because they don't seem quite strong enough for the extra amplification coming from the new HU. Any questions, just ask.

Well, nothing to post yet, and not as fancy as a lot of your systems, but I got a JVC HD Radio HU for Christmas. It should be here in about a week.

Just got the Pioneer AVIC-D2 Navigation installed. This unit is awesome and I love it. It has tons of navigation features which I love, including millions of POI's. It also has XM navtraffic where it integrates the traffic into the map, haven't tried that yet but hope to soon. The unit fits great and the clarity is also top notch, I couldn't be happier. Check out the link.

Eclipse AVN-5495 in dash navigation. Sirius tuner in sunglasses holder. JL Audio Stealthbox in my mom-in-law's basement while I source out the rest of my setup. Still researching a 5 ch amp and appropriate speakers.

Absolutely my favorite setup, so far. Great job. Where did you mount your antenna for your Sirius tuner?

Ok so here is what I have so far.

Here is my head unit and siriius right below it. It's a pioneer DEH-P80MP (i think) and the sirius unit is a starmate with the DIN adapter sold at circuit city.

Heres a close up of the sirius unit

and a close up of the head unit

another picture

Heres the amp i have under the drivers seat. its an MTX Thunder 4501. 500RMS at 2 ohms.

with the seat all the way forward

with the seat all the way back

Then heres what i have in the cargo area, i had planned on fiberglassing the passenger side panel, i started it and havent finished, so until i do this is what i'm using. its an MTX Thunder 8500 12". 500RMS at 2 ohms. it makes my rear wiper jump around. its great.

thats all i've done so far, im going to replace the mids and highs probably with more mtx. i do need a capacitor though, my headlights dim badly and i can sit and watch my volt meter go down to around 10v then back up, then back down. its tons of fun. Also my amp gets too hot from the low voltage and will shut off for a few minutes every now and then.
