I'm thinking of doing a trip down to PINS on August 13th-15th. Sat-Mon. I'd most likely be coming from the Houston area the morning of the 13th. Maybe somewhere in the corpus Area. Plans are pretty up in the air at this point those are the Dates I'm thinking about. Is anyone interested in making the run with me?

AS Of right now its just me going I've got feelers out at a couple of different places. If I can't find another X, Truck, Jeep to go with I may not make the trip either, more for safety reasons then anything

Putting out a Feeler here to see if anyone is interested.

I kind of burnt out my girl on beach trips last season.... way too much driving and practically no water time (galveston wasn't always very inviting)... so not sure its even an option for me. Especially at 6hrs travel time each way...might need to make it a long weekend to make it worth it.

BUT.... what are your plans? Are you going to 4wheel, fish, drink, kayak, swim? That might influence others.

I have seen reports recently that sections of the beach are VERY narrow at high tide.... as in, you are trapped until low-tide. So, check the tide charts before nailing down any plans.

I can understand that for sure.

Plans for once I'm there are pretty wide open I would like to drive all the way down. (i've seen the reports about the beach being Very Narrow in spots) so that would be determined on timing and conditions.

I'm not really much of a fisherman. So if we get to a part of the beach that makes it no longer passable I'm perfectly fine with swimming, small fires, having some drinks.

If someone wishes to bring there Kayak. more power to them. I have a buddy that is in a Jeep that may do that as well(if he decides to come).

I'm pretty open as far as the plans go except for Driving down the beach away from people.

Hope that clears it up some.

I'm interested, just to see what it is all about. I just got my Tred's today so I'm ready for the sand! My schedule would be arrival Saturday afternoon, do some exploring, have some drinks, camp overnight, and play Sunday by ear then head back that day. I'd be alone this time but I'll bring the family next time if it goes well.

I am interested in a PINS trip. Maybe when it cools off a little bit? If you reschedule post it up. I would be leaving from Houston as well.

PINS beaches closed to driving due to high tides until further notice

CORPUS CHRISTI -
Due to Hurricane Franklin waves have surged onto the beaches of Padre Island National Seashore up to the dune line.

To protect visitors the beaches at the seashore are closed to beach driving until further notice.

The public will be notified when conditions improve enough to open the beaches once again to driving.

In addition there is a very high danger of rip currents, so swimmers should think twice before going into the water.
