I just took my X in for its first service. I got home and there is oil all over the bottom of the truck, down the right side of the engine and collected in the skid plate.

I was just wondering if all of the techs that work on our vehicles are idiots or is Reno just special. I will be in when they open tomorrow morning to make them clean it up (with their tongues if necessary). Sorry, I just needed to vent.

hahahaha! Dood, what are you talking about? You actually got it pretty easy lol. The dealership literally oiled my air filter for me. Luckily I have the habit of not trusting other people's work and checked my engine bay when i got home. Pain in the ass but I have the free oil change for life deal. Not much i can do.

Well I'm back from the dealership this morning, after TWO HOURS. The first thing that they did was to wipe off all of the oil and try to pass it off as done. Not even close. I then made them pull the skid plate, clean off the underside and skids and finally wash my X. They tried to tell me that they couldn't do the oil change without spilling oil in the skids. I called BS on that one and asked why they were refusing to service MY Nissan with the same care that they were taking with the 07 Maxima next to it. Major back peddling after that one.

I do have one question for you guys. When you do your own oil changes is there any grounds for refusing warranty claims?

Is yours an OR model? If not then they shouldn't have as much of a problem... I just take it to a friend that runs a local shop now. It a little bit pricey but the work is top notch. Its Old Town Auto on Virginia and Peckham Ln. Talk tp Louis if you need...

I had my first oil change this morning at the dealer{@4580 miles}.I origanally took it in for the first check @ 3193 miles.I had them remove the tire pressure sensors from the stock rims as I replaced them and work to remove a dash rattle.I was looking over that first invoice and noticed there was no mention of an oil change.I called to verify this and sure enough they didn`t change the oil!I just checked the engine compartment and that was clean. When I got underneath there was oil everywhere.I don`t have time to talk to them today but I`ll be checking in tommorrow morning.I`ll keep you posted. :argue:

I feel lucky on this one. Had my first service done a few weeks ago and everything came back nice and clean. No oil anywhere. Will probably be going in for it's next service in another month, hopefully they can keep up the track record.

I went back to the dealer today.A 50 minute drive each way.I told the service manager I wanted the skid pan removed and cleaned along with everything else that was covered in oil.It was pouring rain today so I couldn`t check to see if it was done right.I mentioned that the mechanic would NEVER leave his car in that condition and that nobody there takes ANY pride in what they do!All he could do was apoligize that I had to come back.Unlike they rest of you I live on an island with one dealer.I won`t go back unless it`s absolutely
necessary. :violent1: :violent3: :whax:

Well, initially I used a local drain and lube outfit that I have used for quite a few years on other vehicles.
Since the skid plates, I added a drain valve with 3/8 inch fuel line and will attempt the plastic bag trick with the filter in 2000 miles from now.
There are remote oil filters available which could be the next route ?

Don't our stock filters look awfully small to us ?

Well I hope that all is well with their clean up. I will NEVER return to Reno Nissan, the next closest it about 30 miles away for me.

You`re lucky you have a choice of dealers.I wouldn`t consider living any place else but you do give up quite a few things being so isolated. All my X shopping is done on the internet.

just had oil change done...

they put 10w-30 in it....

the manual says NOTHING about any oil besides 5w-30.

I questioned the tech and he told me : "that's all they got and use there"

this was at the dealership.....

should i get them to put 5w-30 into it now or am i just being overly paranoid??

the 2006's manual states you can use 10w-30 10w-40 and 5w-30 but 2007's only mentions 5w-30 so thats why i am concerned...

thanks..
