Did the first oil change on the X today. I first attempted to remove the oil filter through the little access panel in the stock front skid but that skid plate is friggin sharp. It cut my hand pretty good so I just dropped the skid to get to the filter.

Am i just a clumbsy moron or is that skid opening just too small and sharp?

you're not the first. next time, turn the wheel to the right and reach in behind the "skid" from the passenger side to remove teh filter.

I have done the first oil change on my x, an 05 pathy, and my wifes 07 Murano. Whomever it is in TN that is tightening on those filters during the build, please stop. Each time I have had to remove the lower windage tray and attack it with a large strap wrench or a huge pipe wrench, it is always on WAY TOO TIGHT.

:clown:-I use HP 1010 "GOLD" filters and they have a 1", hex base , for a 1' socket or wrench, so--

--I UNSOCKET it, reach thru the little window, put the ZIPLOCK bag around it and reaching around BOTH sides of the skid plate--

--REMOVE it, with no oil spill, painless--

As long as i know i am not the first. They really do overtighten the filters.

still doesnt make this gash in my hand go away any faster.
