Its about 4 hours from fayetville, but brown mountain has some good trails. mostly rock crawling but theres also some deep water holes and some mud. Just make sure you pay at the entrance. Its on the honor system. You put 5 dollars per vehicle in a provided envelope and take an attached ticket. The park rangers set up at the entrance regularly and check everyones ticket numbers and they match the envelope to the ticket and make sure the money is in there. I live about 15 minutes from there.
