Help me out here ... are you guys up in arms about the Xtrail because you're worried about how it indicates what the Xterra will be as Nissan moves forwards? Has the Xtrail ever had any bearing on the F-Alpha platform that the Xterra is based on?
This is an honest question ... I'm not sure I've ever particularly cared about the Xtrail, sure it's also a Nissan product, but so are the Rogue and the Murano.
The X-Trail has seen the Canadian and I believe Mexican markets, but it was replaced by the Rogue which uses the same platform. So it was already a redundant vehicle - no use in selling two vehicles for the exact same segment, at the same price point, using the same parts, so Nissan just combined the two into one and is selling them under different names.
It will come to the US market, but as the new Rogue.
