Hey everyone. My name's Ricky. I'm from Charles Town, WV which is on the very eastern tip of the state. Maryland and northern Virginia are within 5 miles. Anyway I figured I'd introduce myself and tell you all about who I am.

I'm a 23 year old school bus technician for Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville, MD. I've always been into hot rodding. I have a 1987 S-10 Blazer with a 415 horsepower 350ci V8 that's lowered, custom painted (nothing too loud), and just a fun street truck. With no other traction adders than a set of Mickey Thompson drag radials, I've had it to 13.05 at 110mph in the 1/4 mile drag strip. I'm a pretty active member and moderator on one of the most famous Blazer forums, blazinlow.com. Let's just say you won't have to worry too much about me not first using the search button.

I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra S. It's the daily driver. Recently I've toyed with the idea of fixing it up to make it more of a really fun daily. I've taken the truck through some pretty fun terrain while hunting (mainly powerlines and small stuff) but with my cousins both owning 4x4 toys I'm looking into getting into it a bit more.

So far my Xterra is stock. I've yanked the mud flaps off of it after they bottomed out and cracked while playing in some mud(this evening actually). I added factory running boards also. I'm really looking into getting a brush gaurd and maybe installing some lights on the roof rack. Purely cosmetic interests of mine for now that will hopefully prove to be handy!

Anyway, I'm hoping to learn a lot from this website, meet some great people, and hopefully in the end be able to share the knowledge I gain.

Thanks!

Welcome!

....before you pick up a grill guard, look at some posts on them on this forum, you'll find some negative points to running one that may be of concern to you. Also, check out Shrockworks.com and look at the rock sliders and bumpers (skids too) if you are really serious about doing some more wheeling on rougher terrain.

Thanks for the welcomes and the tips. I've been on this site non-stop for about the past 5 days searching and searching and searching.

I'm on kind of tight budget, so the modifications aren't top on the priority list. Well, not the big ones at least. I wish I could find a couple thousand dollars laying under a rock somewhere to be able to do it all right now, but I'll just have to be patient and work the overtime needed to get it done. :)

krucam - I actually grew up in Harpers Ferry up on the mountain (2 and a half miles up Chestnut Hill Rd - the road that goes straight up the side of the mountain). I just recently moved to Charles Town. Where I live now is actually about a mile from the race track and slots. You're right, it is a beautiful place. I love it here.

Welcome dude,

I was born and grew up in Morgantown (go 'Eers), now I'm in the Gaithersburg, MD area. There's some great fishing out towards Harper's Ferry, and it's indeed a beautiful place. Everything and more is in this xterra forum, whether it be for cosmetic, or crawling needs. The expertise will blow your mind!

xterrapickles - I actually work in Clarksburg so I'm not too terribly far from you at nights (work 3rd shift). I love fishing in Harpers Ferry in the summer. I'm on the river about 4 to 5 days a week when it's nice out, wading in the flat parts. This past summer I caught the biggest smallmouth I've ever caught on the river. Here's a picture of the biggest, which is being mounted right now. (excuse the nasty look on my face... I had been out on the river for 7 hours straight).

Here's another I caught on my boat.

I used to own a sit-on-top fishing kayak I was taking out quite a bit, but once I found that it was easier to just walk out in the shallows to fish I sold the kayak. Here's an old picture of my Xterra with the kayak strapped to it.

I also like to hunt here. I hunt up on the mountain in Harpers Ferry actually overlooking the river. Here are a couple I got this year.

Nice Shots...no pun intended!

A shot of my wife and I when up there in October '07. This is on the Maryland Heights Cliff overlooking Harpers Ferry. It was quite a bit of a workout climbing that cliff, had to take 1 or 2 breaks for a cigarette on the way up...
