Hi all,

After wanting an X for a while now (needed the extra space/4x4 for work and camping trips) I'm now a new owner of a 2014 Glacier White Xterra S 4x4. Really wanted the pro-4x but just couldn't swing the extra cash. Was stuck in a Nissan Juke since 2011 and just a few weeks ago I fell victim to the dreaded failed timing chain. Needed an engine swap and was out of warranty (65k miles). Luckily I was able to work out a deal. But in the end - the $28k xterra S was inflated to the price of pro-4x to make up for turning in a car without a working engine, which they originally wanted approx. $8,000 to fix.

Anyways, good to be here and look forward to learning more from the community.

Wow, Nissan cheaped out on timing chains across the line, didn't they? Don't worry, your new X should be immune, our timing chains should have been corrected by 09.

Howdy from Boston! Check out your local Xterra clubs at NEXTerra.org (Northeast Xterra Club) and GPAXTerras.org (Greater Pennsylvania Area Xterras).

Welcome! And thanks! I don't think I will be looking at the Juke for the wife any longer. :whax:

From what I've heard, you should be okay if you're looking at 2013/14 jukes. The chain has been through like 4 or 5 revisions since 2011. It was a fun little car, but I travel way too much for work to rely on 1.6L. Plus, as a hiker/camper, I'm so happy to be in something that can take me off the beaten path. Maybe the Mrs. may want to check out the new 2014 Rogue?? They actually did a nice little job with the updates. Its essentially a mini pathfinder now. Not for me, but nice nonetheless.

And thanks to everyone for the warm welcome.
