Whats up guys? Hopefully I'll be putting on my new wheels along with some bfg a/ts tonight. I'm picking up my adapters on the way home from work and I'll take plenty of pictures. I'll hopefully have more up here by 8 tonight. :)

From what I have seen so far if you take a heat gun or hair dryer to the inside of your wheel wells, you should have no problems. The only thing I could think of might be under full compression with the wheel turned at a pretty sharp angle. Under normal conditions though after lifting I have no rubbing problems whatsoever.
Sweet, thanks! I am secretly hoping that an upgrade to wider wheels with my BFG's eliminate my tire balancing problem.
Heres an idea of the spacer... Measurements are in inches and some measurements could vary depending on the material and tools you have available. For example: the shop I got mine made at had a 1.150" bore and thats the size I used. I would not use less than a 28 mm hole otherwise sockets may not fit. Hope this helps you guys out. =]

DISCLAIMER: THIS MAY NOT WORK FOR YOUR XTERRA/WHEELS AS IT IS CUSTOM TO FIT MY NEEDS. I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILTY FOR ANY DAMAGE OR MALFUNCTIONS TO ANY EQUIPMENT SHOULD YOU USE THIS.

If you want to pay extra bucks, SLR has spacers made for the 05+ Xterra and its in stock.

Very helpful, but I'm sure you meant measurements are in millimeters...right? Or am I missing something? How much did it end up costing you to have these machined?

Can someone explain the downside of having spacers on your wheels? How does it affect suspension, is it a big deal, is it not a big deal if you don't do crazy rock crawling, etc...

I've seen an X here in town with aftermarket wheels but they are bling bling 20" chrome...so he might have used spacers...
Sorry guys, I meant millimeters. Good call... I just wanted to give ya'll a quick update. I do have some rubbing during turning if I am experiencing a lot of compression. Its all plastic rubbing but its annoying. I think they may be getting a trimming here soon.
Hey mjm4soccer! (Or anybody else that knows the answer)

Earlier in this tread you comment that you cut back the sheet metal behind the front tire. I'm thinking of doing the same thing.

Can you provide a close-up of what you cut? How did you re-attach the plastic wheel well thingy to it?

Thanks!
I don't have any pics right now, but basically i cut some and bent back the rest of the sheet metal and put the screws into it so It looks like it does when you first pull it off. Its kind of hard to explain but theres a little lip there that your screws go into. I also cut underneath where the plastic is covering it. When I get home from work i'll see if I can get some pics up for you.

Thanks mjm4soccer.

I think I understand WHAT you did. Next question is HOW did yu do it? The sawing part is easy enough, but how did you bend the metal? Just use a big pair of pliers, or did you have something fancier?

Thanks!
Sorry if I wasn't really clear. Basically I would trim some and then use some pliers to bend the metal back. The metal itself is pretty pliable, and isn't too hard to bend. I just used tin snips to do the trimming. Just make sure you do small pieces at a time and check to make sure you don't ruin the bodylines.
Ok. Got ya.

Thanks for your help. I order new tires the other day. I'd rather not have to mess with the metal, but just in case I wanted to know.

BIG THANKS! :salute:

Don't you have the 3" BL? If so I doubt you iwll have much of an issue.
Well I ordered some wheel adapters this weekend. I ordered some 1" 6x4.5 to 6x5.5 adapters so I could run some D-slot wheels. I ordered the Crager D-slots in 16x8/ 5"bs with 12mm offset. My only worry is I'll have to mill the adapters for clearance.
Gruzen,

I'm not sure of the style of the wheels that will really determine if you need to mill them or not. I'm guessing they are going to be similar to the Soft 8s so you shouldn't have anything to worry about :)
Yea, I can't see a problem hitting vertically. The tires I'm getting are 33" x 13.5". I'll also be using a 1" thick adapters for the wheels, so I'm worried on making sharp turns it will rub.

it will rub. even with 33x11.50 aka 285 75 16''s, plus 1 inch adapter, it rubs in turns... i had to trim sheet metal this weekend. not a lot, but some. i will try to post up a pic later.

you will be rubbing on the frame and the fender behind the wheel. also i wheeled mine thursday and it was catching the fender above the wheel on compression. installing the UCAs and spacers from PRG will fix that for me, with the extra 2" lift. but you will want to be very careful... 13.5 is a lot wider than what im running.
285's are 11.5 (well 11.2) wide, not 10.5.
Thanks for the heads-up info!

BTW.. I went wheeling on Sunday at Paragon for their monthly ride. The first time I went on level 3 (almost all reds for those that don't go there). The X took a real beating. The sliders got scratched to crap; the cross piece of the exhaust pipe got dented (wonder where my Shrock skids are?), and last but not least...the drivers side rear window got shatered when the X went up on a rock and hit a tree that was bent over. Oh and the tree also put a slight dent in the metal above it.

Worst day out ever, but also the most fun as the trails were the thoughest we ever did.
Man, and I thought I beat the crap outta my X.
Yea, I went to the Cabin and "Bumped" my rear hatch, Ya know the part that sticks out AKA the hump? Well, it don't stick out no more. And I was also thinking, Where's my Rear Shrockworks bumper? Had it been on there it would have not done anything. I may even be able to POP it back out if I take the rear inside off. It's beyond Pop a dent though.
