Greetings, decided to join the forum as I have just picked up a Pro-4X. Have owned various 4X4's before, ranging from an old (bought new) 1986 Isuzu Trooper which was throughly thrashed thru Baja to a full size 3500 p/u.

The X seems like a very capable 4X4 and a decent daily driver. The wife and I plan and have already started to explore the off road areas of Idaho.

One thing I found curious is that the car doesn't have a formal transmission dip stick? Is this true? Do you have to unscrew the retaining sheet metal screw to pull out the dip stick, even if there is one in there? I have always done all my maintenance on all our vehicles and plan on doing the same with the X.

Thanks all, yes I'm new to Idaho also. Spent the last two years on the road in our RV. Great way to see the great old USA.

Sounds like I'll need to carry a phillips head screw driver just to check the tranny fluid on the road. LOL

Welcome, from one new guy to another...I'm glad I'm not the only one that was a little puzzled by the trans dip stick!
